NFL Week 3: Raiders vs Broncos Pick & Prediction

Monday Night Football: Oakland Raiders vs Denver Broncos ATS Pick and Predictions

The line on this game opened a week ago with the gun slinging 2-0 Denver Broncos favored by 14.5 points over the over-achieving 1-1 Oakland Raiders.

Since then, action on the Broncos has pushed the line as high as 16.5. Can the Raiders continue their unlikely run towards the ATS Championships that take place in non-playoff team's living rooms during the NFL playoffs? Or will Peyton Manning pretend Terrelle Pryor is his other younger brother and destroy the Raiders accordingly? Let's look at a very skinny analysis of this match-up.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are very good at football. They score a lot of points and make other teams look like they are not very good at football at all. In Week 1 at home they put up 49 points, defeating the defending Super Bowl champions by more than three touchdowns. On the road in Week 2, they embarrassed Eli Manning's Giants 41-23. They are a force to be reckoned with and look to extend their streak of 40+ points/game against an Oakland Raiders defense that has only seen the Colts and the Jaguars this year.

Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders are not super great at football. They are not, however, as bad as they were last year nor as bad as everyone anticipated. In fact, they are a field goal away from making this game an undefeated showdown for first place. The Raiders lost and covered against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, then covered at home when the beat the Jacksonville Jaguars by 10 points at home. They have a solid running back in Darren McFadden and they are improved at the quarterback position in so much as Terrelle Pryor has mobility where Carson Palmer did not.

The Spread

The line is currently at 16. The Raiders have covered the spread 6 of their last 7 visits to Denver, including a couple of lines upward of 13 points. That being said, they had their assess handed to them last year by the Peyton Manning led Broncos 37-6 and 23-10, losing SU and ATS both times. Last year the Raiders were terrible against the spread as underdogs, losing 6 of 7 games to close out the season. That 1 game, however, came in the season finale, which means they are currently on a 3 game ATS winning streak. We look for the magic at Mile High to continue with the Broncos winning a 13 point nail biter and the Raiders covering the line. Take the points and the OVER.
