Thursday Three: TSZ Fan Picks

LAST WEEK: 1-2 ATS

SEASON TO DATE: 5-3 ATS

Before we get to our Thursday Three, we have to send out the welcoming committee.

TSZ Welcomes: Please know, Kanu, you will always be 26th in our hearts. We're glad you're here.

Coffee Thank You's: Ryan K. Without going into details, this was one of the most thoughtful cups of coffee we've received. Thank you Ryan.

Okay, we've got some work to do. First and foremost, you'll be happy to know the New York Giants fans have weeded themselves out of this week's Thursday Three, only to be replaced by (or converted to) Washington Redskins fans. It's a beautiful day here on the coast, and as my dad likes to say, "You're burning daylight," so let's get right to it.

Very small sample size this week - seven submissions with varying opinions. Not so small, however, that somehow Kansas City, Philadelphia, and Miami all made the list of locks. Maybe we need to define confidence picks. We love all of those teams this week, but I'm not sure we love them quite that much. Fortunately, individuality as usual is balanced out by conformity and we do have three relatively clear cut winners.

Thursday Three: TSZ Readers' Week 14 Confidence Picks

#3. New Orleans Saints (+6.5) over NEW YORK GIANTS

--WEAK NY secondary and Drew is furious.

-- So, Brees is an underdog off a loss again.  A very embarrassing, five interception loss.  I wouldn't want to be part of the NYG secondary this week.  The Giants often struggle at home especially as big favorites. Eli's been a little off lately as well as the entire offense;  the Saints putrid defense should limit Manning from totally going off.  Drew will score enough with all his weapons to keep this one within a score.   NYG 30  NO 27

-- The Saints have always beaten the Giants by a ton of points and now they are getting points? Brees threw five picks last week and I think he will redeem himself by throwing five touchdowns.

#2. Atlanta Falcons (-3.5) over CAROLINA PANTHERS

--I think they should win this comfortably. Previous encounters suggest so too. However, after last weeks games, who knows.

--This spread seems to good to be true. Atlanta has way to many offensive weapons to not win this one by at least a touchdown.

Jet Joe
Jets Fan

Can Atlanta beat Carolina for the 6th straight time? Can they put themselves in position for the #1 seed? Of course they can. Everyone knows they are going to dominate the regular season and get beat at home in the playoffs. I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind but not in my pool.

#1. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (-2.5) over Baltimore Ravens

--Baltimore lost to Batch at home!

Mysterio

Cowboys Fan

--I thought Ravens would have won last week at home against the Steelers. Now they have to play the in-form Redskins away. Should win easy.

--With Washington at home again, I expect their defense to show up again like last week against the Giants. RG3 will work the Ravens with the play action all game.

Quick Hits: The Thursday Three Honorable Mentions

BUCCANEERS (-7.5) over the Eagles

This has to be a gift from Vegas.  Let's see we have a team at home, pushing to make the playoffs against a team that has benched its starting QB and fired two coaches already.  The Eagles are in shambles.  Taking the Bucs all day on this one.

--Vick out + d-line coach fired + Babin released+ McCoy out + Reid still coaching = Me picking Tampa.

Eagles (+7.5) over BUCCANEERS

It seems like the young Bucs have hit a wall lately as they've been trending down slightly.  A game against the lowly Eagles probably won't get them too excited either.  Plus, both of their ATS losses this year were at home.  Historically, Reid is very good as touchdown dogs and both of their covers this season were on the road.  Andy doesn't have all the pressure when away from the crazed Philly fans.  I see a close game with Tampa prevailing in the end.  TB 27  PHI 24

--Foles and brown has been playing great together but they have turned the ball over so much that this game is scary. This will probably be a high scoring game.

Jayden

Broncos (-10.5) over RAIDERS

Division battle and 10.5 is a lot of points, but Oakland has one of the worst defenses in the league and Peyton Manning’s neck is looking stronger each week. I heard he went to Germany and had giraffe blood pumped into him.  Denver will cover because Oaklands DB’s can't.

So there you have it, TSZ readers. Our fourth edition of the Thursday Three. Check back in tomorrow for our Friday Five. I'm pretty sure you won't see as much overlap this week.

  2. Hey Jayden I'm not a NE fan either. The only time I like them is if they win me money and I think this is 1 of those weeks. GO PATS!!!!!...by 3!

  3. I also see TB absolutely killing the Eagles! The Bucs have everything to play for and the Eagles have nothing. Have you seen Bryce Brown carry the ball? He will fumble at least twice in this game! Bucs 35-10.

    1. Are you sure they won't be all fired up to play for Andy Reid's next job? That would be an awesome pre-game talk. "Listen up guys. Jerry Jones is here, so I need you to play like a very temporary future job were at stake. Can you do that for me?"
