Week 3 Picks ATS: New York Giants @ Carolina Panthers

After the Crap Sandwich of games we were gifted with in Week 2, the Week 3 schedule reminds us all that when shitty teams play shitty teams and good teams play good ones, there is undoubtedly parity in the NFL. That and the fact that 20 of 32 teams are currently tied for the second best record in the league at 1-1. Trust me, at 11-5 ATS last week and 19-13 overall, the Crap Sandwich tasted just fine to me and Marco, but Week 3 looks to be entertaining, challenging, and hopefully profitable.

Knowing the process that led to the practically psychic shit you're about to read is essential to your success as a discerning gambler, so please take notes.

Now that you have a deeper understanding of brilliance, let's make some cash. Here is every game in Week 3 ATS, beginning with our Thursday Night Special.

New York Giants at the CAROLINA PANTHERS (-1.5): Eli Manning might throw for 700 yards and five fourth quarter TDs, but we don't see the defending Super Bowl champs disappointing like they did opening night against the Cowboys.

Not that mathematical inequalities (if A > B and B > C, then A > C) necessarily work in the real football world, but the Panthers were only able to rush for 10 yards against a Bucs team that the Giants scored 41 points against. Although Carolina rebounded to win against New Orleans replacement defense, we're still pretty sure the Giants have the better offense. Unfortunately, that offense is pretty banged up right now with Hakeem Nicks and Ahmad Bradshaw being late scratches. Carolina's secondary played well enough to contain the un-suspended part of the New Orleans Saints and we see them doing the same against the banged up G-Men.

Although the Giants are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games, home teams won a lopsided 14 games last week, and how often do you really see an NFL game decided by 1? We don't like that Cam Newton refers to himself in the third person, but we do find applicable his Third Law of Motion which, "For every action against Cam, there is an equal and opposite reaction +2 points." Look for Marco and I to break our Wednesday/Thursday losing streak.

The rest of our picks will be posted this afternoon.

Happy betting,

Vinny and Marco

  1. Do you think this game will go over 50.5?

  2. Seven of the last nine meetings between these two teams has gone over, so it looks like a safe bet. Probably be a shootout, and although the Giants are missing weapons, look for Manning to make replacements look good enough to keep it close.

    1. Well I didn't go with the over but I did go with the Panthers. A little upset with how poorly they played.

    2. We were, too, Anonymous. Even Clark Kent would have played better than Cam. Stay tuned for our Friday morning rant.

Good luck with the rest of the weekend
