NBA Playoff Pick-a-thon Day 51: All Sandwich No Bread

NBA FINALS: 1-0 ATS and SU

KYLE'S NHL PICKS TO DATE: 51-39-1

KYLE'S MLB PICKS TO DATE: 158-127-7

KYLE'S UFC PICKS: 11-6 (8-0 on confidence picks)

Some might describe this post as the best fifty-first date EVER. No small talk, no cursory background checks, no late night innuendo - just straight to the good stuff. Don't worry, you can always buy us dinner later if you decide we're worth it. Just click the DONATE button and show us how much you care. For now, let's talk Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

San Antonio Spurs (-6) over MIAMI HEAT: There I said it. Granted, if the pattern the Heat have established during these playoffs holds, tonight's game doesn't figure to be as riveting as Game 1. Miami has avenged its previous four losses this postseason – one to Chicago, three to Indiana – with big wins the next time out, easily covering the point spread every time. Another point to consider, since the Big Three formed in 2010, they've lost the first game of a best-of-seven series three times and have gone on to sweep the next four games in each instance - twice against the Chicago Bulls and last year against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Finals.

The San Antonio Spurs, however, are a different animal than either of those teams. The Bulls have prided themselves on defense in recent history, but have been somewhat anemic offensively so when they get in a hole they have a difficult time digging themselves out. Conversely, last years Thunder squad was an offensive juggernaut with Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, but couldn't string enough stops together to keep up with Miami. The Spurs, on the other hand, a balanced, experienced, and disciplined unit are 13-2 in these playoffs. They've also won seven in a row, covering six of those games, and are 7-1 SU and ATS on the road in the postseason. San Antonio, in fact, is now the favorite to win the series.

                 SO DID WE!
Marco and I both believe the Spurs will win the series, but we differ in how many games it will take. I think there's a good chance the Heat pull this game out late while Marco likes their chances of going home up 2-0. Nonetheless, we both agree that this will be a game that comes down to the last two minutes and that the Spurs will cover one way or another. The six point line is begging us to take the Spurs, which is bad, but we're doing it anyway. If you want an additional bet here, 6 of the last 8 Miami games have hit the OVER and with neither team turning the ball over much in Game 1, taking the OVER 187.5 makes a lot of sense.
Enjoy the game,
Vinny and Marco

KYLE'S CORNER:

A fantastic, perfect 4-0 day.

NHL: 1-0 (NHL: Overall: 51-39-1)
Tennis: 1-0 (and Nadal's up 6-3, 3-1 on the parlay right now)
UFC: 2-0

A dominating performance from Erik Silva and Thiago Silva, (always go for the Silvas'). Erick also garnered himself submission of the night honors with our fellow pick Thiago Silva picking up FOTN honors. Serena Williams 2-0'd Maria Sharapova for the win. And, of course, the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the defending Stanley Cup champion L.A. Kings in double overtime to advance to the Stanley Cup Final against Boston.

SUNDAY

For Sunday, R. Nadal is the pick. Every cent in the world has gone on him since I took him and Williams Friday night, and he's gone from heavy favorite to a -1150 David v Goliath near certainty (see score above). MLB has been fairly unpredictable lately, so I will only be taking on a few games.

Just for future heads up, there is another UFC event this upcoming July that I will be investing a lot of time into. For those keeping track I'm 11-6 overall, but that's deceiving, because I'm 8-0 on my confidence picks, all my loses have been on props/big underdogs for the most part.
