NBA Playoff Pick-a-thon Day 50: The Potential Rap Up. Yikes.

NBA POST-SEASON RECORD TO DATE: 49-29 ATS

NBA FINALS: 1-0 ATS and SU

KYLE'S NHL PICKS TO DATE: 50-39-1

KYLE'S MLB PICKS TO DATE: 158-127-7

KYLE'S UFC PICKS: 9-6

It's almost here, folks, and I'm afraid it's inevitable. Be it in the streets of San Antonio or the coastal avenues of South Beach, the NBA Championship parade is just around the corner. Although we may not always know which team is going to win or cover on a game-to-game basis, mark my words: regardless of which city ends up hosting, the celebration will absolutely, 100% positively include either bad dancing, bad rapping, or bad t-shirts. Remember Mark "Mad Dog" Madsen's dances during the Los Angeles Lakers dynasty at the beginning of the millennium? The parlay bets with Shaq rapping were the biggest payouts in NBA championship parade history.

This year we have aspiring rapper and current San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker going up against Miami Heat four-time MVP and aspiring rapper LeBron James. Had I seen the sample videos of these two "artists" prior to game 1, I still would have backed the Spurs, but I would have rooted a lot harder for them to win.

Here are the Rap Off samples. The first video is of a 23 year-old Tony Parker free styling after his Spurs closed out the 2005 NBA Finals. The second one was shot last year after LeBron sealed his first the first championship of his career against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tony Parker Freestyle:

VS

Lebron James Raps with 2 Chainz and LMFAO

Advantage: Tony Parker

Why? A couple of reasons. First of all, I think Tony was rapping in French, and having forgotten most of what I learned in high school, I get to decide what he may or may not be saying. Also, he's actually at the championship celebration wearing a very basic, white, NBA Champion t-shirt. Kudos to you, Tony. That's English for Kudos.

Le Bron James, on the other hand, is barely audible (I'm not convinced they even turned his mic on), he's at some dark, post-parade celebration, and, as Tony Parker would say "the piece de resistance" - he's wearing a t-shirt OF HIMSELF. As a vampire? With a tongue piercing? Opening wide for the dentist? I'm not sure, but once again he should look into hiring a new PR guy. And stop hanging out with that guy whose hat appears to have two bills.

Game over, LeBron. If the NBA is fixed, they've seen this video and are going to make sure you never celebrate again.

KYLE'S CORNER:

Today I'm taking off from baseball and just focusing on UFC, Tennis, and the NHL. Friday's games just would not go right. So many weird outcomes and 1 run loses. Just depressing. Furthermore, the Boston Bruins completed the sweep, which should not have happened. Pittsburgh, the number one seed, is too good a team to go down without a fight. Pathetic.

Recap:

NHL:

Overall: 50-39-1
Friday: 0-3

MLB:

Overall: 158-127Friday: 4-7

Saturday's Action

Tennis:

Take S. Wlliams and R. Nadal, I'm parlaying them due to them both being heavy favorites, I can't see either of them losing here.

NHL: Chicago to win and finish out the series.

UFC:

Erick "Indio" Silva to win, most likely ITD (within distance)
Thiago Silva+170   Underdog pick, he's not as bad  as his record shows he just fails every drug test afterwards and has his wins taken away

Fight of the night pick:

These pay heavy odds for obvious the obvious reason it's nearly impossible to guess:
Erick "Indio" Silva v Jason "The Kansas City Bandit" High: Silva has the propensity to put on showstopping fights, look for the trend to continue in his home town.

Good luck!

Kyle

  1. Should not have happened? Hahahaha!!!!! It was a sweep! Absolutely no sense. Anyway, I'll take every baseball game played for the rest of the year. Home team every time and win 70% of the time. Chicago by 2 tonight. Definitely a Habs or Leafs fan. JOKE!!!!

    1. I don't even know what exactly is trying to be said here. Try to keep the comment sections coherent and constructive, otherwise it detracts from the atmosphere.

If you're ascertaining to take every MLB home team for the whole season, I want to warn everyone else to not follow suit, studies have conclusively shown that to be a losing strategy otherwise everyone would do it.

Regarding taking Chicago by 2: throughout the playoffs the worst team in the entire playoffs to take the puckline against was the Kings, they had the most 1 goal losses/ under 5 goal games out of any team. Tonight's game was a total goals aberration, however it was a predictable 1 goal loss. Also I am not a Habs nor a Leafs fan if that was a query directed at me.

  2. As a lover of math, I'd like to add that the proposed baseball strategy would be yielding a smidge over 55% right now, and I'm guessing that number will drop for the same reason Las Vegas is no longer just a desert.

Now c'mon Mysterio. Can we move past this heckling, salt-in-the-wound guy that seems to have emerged in the absence of football and stop with the Canadian name calling. My great grandfather played for the Leafs. I don't even understand hockey and I'm a fan.

Go Leafs (and Habs - whoever the heck they are).

Look forward to your Stanley Cup Finals picks, M-dawg.
