NBA Playoff Pick-a-thon Day 25: The Good, the Bad, but Mostly Ugly

POST-SEASON RECORD TO DATE: 41-18 ATS

CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS: 11-4 ATS

CONFIDENCE EFFICIENCY RATING (CER): 81/117 or .69

TOP CONFIDENCE PICKS THROUGH DAY 24: 16-7 ATS

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it took three and a half weeks, but Marco and I finally took the 0-Fer. I don't know what happened, but I'm guessing Texas Todd finally started putting money on our picks. Keep the faith, buddy. Keep the faith.

Little did Marco and I know the extra day of rest for the Bulls would be misunderstood by their ailing bodies as rust for the off-season. Don't worry Chicago, there will be no misunderstanding come Thursday morning. Meanwhile, unlike Saturday afternoon, we were on the wrong end of the back door cover  when Memphis forward Tayshaun Prince sank his free throws at the end of the overtime, sealing the Grizzlies 103-97 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Does that guy ever age?

Nonetheless, the marathon continues. Can somebody tell me if it's too soon to use the word marathon? Was it too soon to ask that? Can you tell I'm trying to distract you from our first sub-.500 night in the NBA Pick-a-thon since opening night? Sorry, no fluffing today (that's what she said) - let's just get to the good part.

INDIANA PACERS (-5.5) over New York Knicks: The Knicks finished the season 25-5. They rolled - with a couple of bumps - through Boston in the first round of the playoffs. They showed glimpses of who they need to be to win in Game 2 of this series. Unfortunately, they are a jump shooting team whose shots are not falling. Credit Indiana's defense, their interior presence, and the intensity they bring to the floor on every play. The Pacers are like a fully loaded Bulls team whose stars are not plagued by injury and illness. At 5.5 points, Vegas is begging us to take the Knicks, but even with slightly shaken confidence after last night, we're not biting. Confidence Rating: 2

                        New York Missed the Sale

Golden State Warriors (+7) over SAN ANTONIO SPURS: House Money has been the motto of this young Warriors team, and the longer this series goes, the more the pressure mounts on San Antonio. Golden State had off-shooting nights thanks to the Spurs geared up defense, but their ability to come back and win Game 4 and their success at putting the Alamo Curse to bed in Game 2, has surely given the Warriors the confidence to lose Game 5 by less than seven. No, of course we're not picking the Spurs to win, I'm just sayin'. Warriors defense helps them build their own streak in Texas: 2-0 since early May, 2013. Confidence Rating: 1

That's all for today, folks.

Vinny and Marco

BONUS COVERAGE FROM KYLE'S CORNER IN CANADA

Okay, I finally did the math for an update on stats, and my Terrible Sunday looked like this: NHL 2-4 (2 goalie bets were voided due to skewed lines) MLB: 2-8

Gross.

Monday I rebounded, picking up the shattered pieces:

MLB: 6-4

Current Overall Total: 53-40-2

NHL: 2-2

Current Overall Total: 27-17

Okay. Confessional over. Time to breathe and move on to Tuesday's schedule.

NHL:

Pittsburgh v Ottawa: Pittsburgh to win and shots on goal @ Anderson. I see Pittsburgh throwing 40 at him.

Los Angeles v San Jose: No play, need to observe first game, but I'm leaning Kings.
