The Heat is On and Other Cliches: NBA Playoff Picks ATS Day 2

Post-Season to Date: 1-3 ATS

Confidence Efficiency Rating: 1/10 or .10

"Easy to handicap basketball it is not, hmmm?"

Shut the F up Half Time Entertainment Guy at the Nets game. The good news - the only good news - is there are four more games on Sunday. While NBA betting jedis Marco and I are not, quick studies we always have been, and I think betting all dogs on opening day was like picking this guy to be your wing man.

Speaking of Evil Empires and subtle transitions, the Miami Heat begin their title defense tomorrow afternoon, and I want to figure out how the hell to stop that from happening, so I can make t-shirts with LeBron's face that say, "Not two. Not two. Not two." Please forward your defensive scheme suggestions to: Jim Boylan c/o wherever he starts his vacation next week.

I know Miami Heat fans are tired of my LBJ-Hate, but please know that my stance is purely political and I will forgive him absolutely when gays can get married.

Now let's talk basketball, shall we? In the interest of time and sleep, I will focus on tomorrow's games only and skip the part where I complain about the back door cover-steal that cost us the Celtics-Knicks game and got Marco and I off to a shaky Day 1 start.

MIAMI HEAT (-13.5) over Milwaukee Bucks: You know our motto here at The Spread Zone: We might be haters, but we're not idiots. The Miami Heat will want to come out in Game 1 and make any statements that winning 35 of their last 37 regular season games didn't make already. You'd have to dangle at least another touchdown in front of us to make us take the Milwaukee. The Buck both starts and stops here.

Confidence Rating: 4 (Most Confident)

INDIANA PACERS (-6.5) over Atlanta Hawks: Fool us once, shame you on. Fool us three out of four times and Marco adjust our strategy. Danny Granger is the best player in this series, and although he had limited playing time this season due to injury and might be coming off the bench, we saw what best players do to a game earlier today a la Deron Williams and Chris Paul. Add the most improved player in the league, Mr. Two Names - Paul George, an athletic center in Hibbert, and an eclectic group of reserves, and the Hawks won't be able to keep pace. With the Pacers. See what I did there. You're welcome.

Confidence Rating: 3

Los Angeles Lakers (+9.5) over SAN ANTONIO SPURS: The Spurs hobbled into the playoffs losing four of five games, while the Lakers needed eight of nine just to get in. Manu Ginobli and Tony Parker are banged up while Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard are building both strength and chemistry with each game. Are these two teams headed in opposite directions? I doubt it. More likely they're headed in exactly the same direction - home. It just won't be in the same round. San Antonio will win this game, but if the epidurals work on Steve Nash and he can give the Lakers some minutes, it will take a little pressure off of point-center Gasol and keep the Lakers close enough to cover.

Confidence Rating: 2

Houston Rockets (+10.5) over OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER: This commercial pretty much says it all. Harden will find a way to keep Houston ready for anything.

Confidence Rating: 1

In which case, I get to say good night.

Good night,

Vinny and Marco

  1. NBA Betting nowadays is really known especially when it's game time season for NBA, all they have to do is to pick their favorite team and bet for them.
